What’s New in Marvel Rivals Season 3?

Season 3 introduces Phoenix as a brand new Hero. If you’ve enjoyed playing Duelists like Hela, you’ll find Phoenix quite similar but with her own unique abilities. Here’s a quick overview:

  • Role: Ranged Duelist
  • Playstyle: Works best from off-angles, focusing on stacking damage.
  • Passive: Every hit stacks damage on enemies, with every third hit causing an explosion. This explosion deals extra damage, hits nearby enemies, and applies a Phoenix mark to them.
  • Ultimate: A dive bomb attack dealing massive area damage before teleporting Phoenix back to where she triggered the ability.

Phoenix is particularly strong against grouped enemies and is also effective at removing enemy support passives, like Loki clones or Peni Parker’s mines. Her new Team Up ability, Primal Flame, buffs Wolverine with flame damage on his Primal Leap, and it also grants him life steal once activated.

New Map: Klyntar – Celestial Husk

Alongside Phoenix, Season 3 will introduce a brand new Domination map called Klyntar: Celestial Husk. This map is themed around Knull’s debut and has a dark, menacing atmosphere.

Players who have tried it early describe it as one of the best maps so far. It has tight corridors that are perfect for Phoenix’s area-of-effect attacks, and it offers plenty of opportunities for flanking and off-angle plays. Expect intense fights here, especially if your team is coordinating to control space effectively.

Season Event and Rank Rewards

Season 3 will also include a new seasonal event called Milano Repair Logs. Details about the event’s objectives and rewards are expected to be fully revealed on launch, but it will tie into the new storyline content for this season.

For Competitive Mode players, there will be a rank reset. If you reached Diamond I during Season 2.5, you will drop down to Gold II at the start of Season 3. The reset will see everyone drop by roughly seven tiers. This is standard practice to keep matches balanced and competitive as the new season begins.

There’s also an exclusive Phoenix skin, Emerald Flames, which you can earn by reaching Gold rank by the end of the upcoming season. Higher tiers like Grandmaster, Celestial, and Eternity will reward nameplates and banners to showcase your ranking achievements.

Hero Balancing and Patch Notes

NetEase has released the full patch notes for Marvel Rivals Season 3. In this update, several Heroes are receiving balance changes. For example, The Thing is getting bug fixes, and there are adjustments to in-game audio for a smoother gameplay experience.

A new Accessory system is also being introduced, allowing you to equip small visual trinkets on your Heroes. These don’t affect gameplay but add a bit more personalisation to your favourite characters.

How to Prepare Before Season 3 Starts

If you’re still wrapping up Season 2.5, focus on completing your battle pass and final missions today before downtime begins. This will ensure you collect all your seasonal rewards without missing anything.

For players planning to main Phoenix, it’s a good time to start practising Duelists like Hela to get used to the positioning and burst playstyle. Since Phoenix excels when teams are grouped up, understanding map rotations and choke points will give you an edge once Season 3 launches.
